people attacking tumblr users for being gullible as if there WASN’T a national panic when “war of the worlds” was presented on the radio in 1938 because people thought that martians were legitimately attacking
tumblr doesn’t make people more gullible people are just fucking gullible and tumblr is a microblogging platform on which information is easily spread and amplified lay off
You wanna know why this post is amazing?
There WASN’T a national panic when “war of the worlds” was broadcast.
It’s a total myth that took hold because people are gullible and no one checks sources.
This is doubly ironic because the national panic did actually happen

Finland: Reflective reindeer antlers aim to stop accidents
Herders in Lapland are spraying their reindeer with reflective paint to help drivers see them in the dark, it appears.
The special spray is being tested on their fur and antlers to see how it holds up in different weather conditions, Finnish national broadcaster YLE reports.
“The aim is to prevent traffic accidents. The spray is being tested on fur at the moment, but it may be even more effective on the antlers, because they are seen from every side,” says Anne Ollila, chairwoman of the Reindeer Herders Association.
As many as 4,000 reindeer die in traffic accidents every year in Finland, the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute says. Most incidents occur in the dark months of November and December, when roads are prone to becoming icy, the Helsingen Sanomat newspaper reports.

Apparently the current proposed name of the hypothetical ninth planet is Persephone which is such a good name I’m mad I didn’t think of it.
Allow me to explain why it’s such a great name:
- It pays homage to Pluto, previously known as the ninth planet, since Persephone was Pluto/Hades’s wife in Greek Mythology
- It helps make up for the gender inequality in the names of planets, since Venus is the only other planet named after a woman
- If it exists, it’d be the coldest planet in the Solar System, and in Greek Mythology, it was Persephone’s time spent in the underworld that caused winter
